The Shoulder to Shoulder clinic: remote rural Honduras Groupwill on MEDOODLE will be dedicated primarily to clinical images utilizing the telemedicine equipment generously dedicated by Global Media telemedicine Group ( www.globalmedia.com ), jpeg images obtained with digital cameras and any other available clinical images. When teleopthahalmology and telepathology and evaluation of urine and blood smears technology becomes available ( hopefully in the near future ), these images will also be added to MEDOODLE. At present Xray and ultrasound ( with USB probes from Global Media) are available. A conventional ultrasound unit has been donated and will hopefully arrive soon. A mini- CT is our next dream visions and dreams don't cost anything.) Please donate online at http://www.shouldertoshoulder.org/ . This will help Shoulder to Shoulder and the Hombro to Hombro clinic with their operating costs and help realize dreams and visions. It is important for all to realize that this clinic which serves more than people 30 000 in remote rural Honduras had no Xray or Ultrasound on February 19. On Feb 20, following generous donations of an Xray machine, PACS, Computed Radiography (CR),ultrasound and telemedicine the medical care of the region will be dramatically changed. Not only will these images be obtained ( which is in itself a new paradigm), but they will also be stored in an organized fashion and be easily transmittable utilizing the most advanced Information communication technology in both radiology and telemdicine. A virtual PACS and a comprehensive videoconferencing utilizing encrypted video conferencing will enable data to be transmitted. The data will be transmitted using a VSAT satellite from the clinic in Concepcion to the tertiary care hospital hundreds of miles away in the capital city. The radiology and telemedicine images will also be transmitted to 13 academic and community hospital partners in the USA.
